DRESS CODE AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
At Theydon Bois Golf Club, we aim to be a progressive and forward-thinking club while maintaining the traditions and standards that make golf enjoyable for everyone.
Our Dress Code is designed to ensure that members and guests are appropriately and smartly dressed, helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all.
In the Clubhouse
- Golf shoes must not be worn in the lounge and suitable footwear should be worn. Leaving dirty golf shoes outside and wearing socks is not acceptable.
- In summer, dry soft spike/trainer style golf shoes may be permitted when course conditions allow.
- If any of your golfing, in particular trousers, gets dirty while you are on the course, please change into something clean.
- Our preference is that hats and caps are not worn inside the clubhouse
On the Course
- Please give thought to what you wear on the course so that our staff are not put in the difficult position of having to ask you to change or refuse access to the course.
- Clothing and footwear should be designed and sold specifically for golf.
- Trousers and shorts should be tailored (meaning smart, fitted, and designed to be worn as part of traditional golf attire, rather than casual or athletic wear. We do understand that there are modern golf designs which will not strictly meet this definition and where appropriate we will adopt a flexible approach.
- Other sportswear, lounge wear, or casual leisurewear is not permitted.
- Socks must be worn at all times. Long or short white socks are acceptable with tailored shorts. Our preference is for white socks to be worn.
- Our preference is that shirts and tops should be tucked in unless they are of a fitted design.
- Shirts should have a collar, unless they are specifically designed and sold as golf wear.
The following are not appropriate on the golf course
- Denim clothing
- Cargo shorts
- Trainers that are not designed for golf
- Football/rugby shirts
- Collarless shirts that are not designed for golf
Equipment
- Each golfer must play with their own set of clubs. Sharing clubs is not permitted.
- For guidance on the use of buggies, please refer to our Buggy Policy.
- During winter or periods of wet weather/wet ground conditions the may restrict or prevent the use of golf trolleys, for example by requiring the use of winter wheels.
